so far my son is enjoying the food that i made for him. preparing his food really requires extra effort i.e. thinking (how to variety his food), energy (besides cooking for the two of us), and time (the cooking is usually done after our dinner).
until today, food that have officially become his menu are carrot, spinach, pumpkin, banana, mango and apple. for the unofficial list, u name it. even durian has come to his little taste buds. tu tak termasuk yang unedible such as kertas, sydney the kangaroo dan lain-lain. haha. the vegetables are strained together with rice porridge while the fruits are strained on its own. i will cook the food and my roommate will do the straining. sampai melecet tangan dowhhh. semangat tak?
but meddling with this cooking-for-child stuff has given me an idea on how they come out with the bottled fruit juice for infants. masa beli tu ingatkan depa blend the fruits kan, but this is how they do it. let say you want to make apple juice. first, wash, skin and pit the apple. then cut into smaller pieces. boil the apple in very little water. once it started to boil, slow the heat, cover the pot and let it simmer until the apple is soft enough to be meshed. at this point, you will be able to smell the sweet, acetone-like aroma of the apple. when the apple is cooked, turn off the heat and let it cool. pour the juice into a container and refrigerate. mesh the apple. simple right?
you can use the same method for other fruits as well like except for banana. all you have to do is just mesh the sweet yellow fruit straight away.
macam kelas memasak la pulak kan? later!
